The Swedish Jujutsu School was founded in 1979 by Jan-Erik Karlsson. The school’s Japanese name is Hoko Shin Ko Ryû which roughly translates into “The Northern Correct School”. The Swedish Jujutsu School’s goal is to cooperate with different Jujutsu and Budo schools regardless of what system or association they belong to. We honor our friendship with them. The school invites and hosts different foreign jujutsu masters. It organizes courses in lithe forms of self-defense and offers weekend courses, summer courses, and three large camps that are arranged each year. In addition to this, the school offers courses that focus upon the issue of how to handle conflict situations that may be encountered by people working in diverse occupations (such as those working in health care services, or as taxi drivers, bus drivers, and guards). We also offer special courses for women and arrange courses for private companies. Students train in line with their own ability and at their own pace. Students are subsequently promoted according to a ten level scale (kyû), in which consideration is given to the abilities and preconditions each person brings with them to the school. Jan-Erik Karlsson is the main instructor, and Lund’s Jujutsu School is the head school which is linked to the World Kobudo Federation & Jujutsu International with Sôke R. Morris 10 Dan.

With jujutsu, we mean training in accordance with the Swedish Jujutsu School (Hoku Shin Ko Ryû). It is an effective form of self-defense for everyone, in which you learn to defend yourself against the types of violence that occurs in modern society.

Traditional Jûjutsu implies training in a traditional manner according to a Japanese style ((Hontai Yôshin Ryû and Moto-ha Yôshin Ryû). The Bujutsu/Kobujutsu (fighting art) which we practice includes, in addition to jujutsu, training with bô (long staff), hanbô (short staff), kodashi (short sword), tanto (knife), sai, tonfa, and kama. The exercises are done in accordance with predetermined schedules of movement (kata). Iai-dô is the art of drawing the Japanese sword. We practice two styles, Toyama Ryû, and Hontai Yôshin Ryû.

NIPPON JUJUTSU KOBUDO INTERNATIONAL

Nippon Jujutsu Kobudo is comprised of different styles of jujutsu, including Moto-ha Yôshin Ryû  & Hontai Yôshin Ryû Jujutsu Japan (a traditional Samurai style) and Hoko Shin Ko Ryû Jujutsu – an effective self-defense system. We also teach traditional Hontai Yoshin Ryû weapon techniques (such as Iaido, Bo, and Handbo, for example).
